ABOUT US
The school was established in 2003 by the management of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and by then the school building was already in place and located adjacent to the department of engineering services.
This package contains among others, information regarding the academic programme for the course, rules and regulations, discipline and general conduct of students within and outside the school. Students are advised to read the package, follow and obey the rules and regulations guiding the academic programme.
Establishment of the school was necessitated by the growing need for qualified technicians and technologists with the expertise to handle the highly technical based hospital equipment that are imported for use in various hospitals across the country. Over the years, the repercussion of this ugly scenario has been that of broken down vital hospital equipment which eventually become waste and is not cost effective. Therefore, the commencement of the National Diploma in Biomedical Engineering marked the beginning of a new lease of life in this aspect.
As a beneficiary of Federal Government/Vamed Equipment Intervention, the Federal Government further intensified effort to see to the growth of the school. This was to ensure through training that the needed manpower for operation and maintenance for maximum efficiency of the equipment is provided.

To be viable and reliable Biomedical Engineering Technology school in Nigeria.
MISSION
To train adequate qualified technical managers with the expertise to install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair hospital equipment in order to provide effective and efficient healthcare to the entire nation.
GOAL
The goal of the programme is to produce competent Biomedical Engineering Technologists/Technicians and Craftmen for the health care institutions, pharmaceutical industry, medical equipment manufacturers and representatives and other related industry.
Admission Requirements
HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA
- National Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from any accredited institution with minimum of Lower Credit
- One year industrial attachment from well recognized hospital and other health institution.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA & CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
- Minimum of five passes at credits level in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and a pass in English Language at not more than two sittings.
- In addition, credit or ordinary pass in any of the following subject will be an advantage: Wood work, Metal work, Mechanic Basic Electronics, Basic Electricity and Technical drawing.
- Minimum Score of One hundred (100) marks in 2025/2026 UTME in relevant subject combination for National Diploma.
