ABOUT US
The school of Nursing was established in August 1981, but training started in October 1981. It started in a temporary rented home along Damboa Road with staff and student population of four(4) and twenty nine(29) respectively. In February 1982, the school moved from Damboa Road into the University Teaching Hospital. In this Hospital the school acquired one ward, which was converted to the classroom, one practical roomand store, temporary offices for the tutors and clinical instructors were acquired also. In April 1982, the school was revisited by the council. The result of this inspection visit forced some conditionality of the school before it could be given provisional approval in the same year(1982). In May 1982 the school moved to its present and permanent site with staff strength of five(5) tutors and five(5) non-clinical staff. In 1984, the presented its first batch of sixteen students for the council final qualifying Examinations. The school had 69%. Another inspection visit was conducted by the Assistant Secretary General (Inspectorate) Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria(N&MCN) in August 1988. The provisional approval was extended by six months. The school was revisited by a team led by the former Secretary General Mr P.N Ndatsu, though there was no any response from the council as to the accreditation status of the school. The school was also visited in July 2002 and August 2005. As at now the has admitted 32nd batch of students with a current population of 150 students and a staff of strength seventeen(17) and non-academic staff of ten(10).

Required Subjects
Five(5) O'Level Credits in (not more than 2 sittings from WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or NBAIS):
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
Note: The applicant must sit for JAMB with a good score grade (JAMB Profile/Results)
Other Requirements
- Admission is only for Candidates who sat for UTME with a Minimum aggregate score of 150.
- Interested candidtates are advised to visit JAMB portal to effect change of Institution and course of study where applicable. While doing so candidates should ensure that their O'Levels and JAMB result slip are well accepted in the portal.
- The minimum age limit for admission is sixteen(16) years for all candidates. In the same vain candidates should not be more than 24 years of age.
