The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) was officially commissioned on the 23rd of July, 1983 by former President Aliyu Shehu Shagari, GCFR. The hospital now has total bed capacity of 1,200 with 17 clinical and 14 non clinical Departments; serving a population of over 30 million in the North East Geopolitical Zone.
