HISTORY
The department was created in August 2019 with her pioneer Head of Department appointed on the 16th of January 2020 The pioneer Head of Department is Dr Abubakar Abiso Mohammed, a consultant Family Physician, Health Economist, Clinical Pharmacologist, a certified lifestyle specialist and a project manager.

Mission: To render accessible and quality health care services to patients and clients irrespective of age, gender or disease condition in the context of their families and community
Vision: To be the most recognised Training Centre in the North-eastern Sub-region in research and service delivery

What the Department is known for
A department that gives comprehensive, continuous and coordinated care to individuals irrespective of age, gender and disease process, in the context of the individual, family and community. The department is fully automated in service delivery by using Electronic Medical Record system. It is also fully equipped with state of the art facilities. The department is fully accredited both by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Physicians. The department is also involved in training of residents in Family Medicine, conducts research and renders health care services.

The department gives services from Mondays to Fridays, Weekends and Public holidays. It opens from 8am to 6pm, Mondays to Fridays 8am - 2pm Weekends and Public holidays. The department is fully automated in service delivery by using Electronic Medical Record system.
