Security Department

The security department of this hospital UMTH Maiduguri was created in the year 1981. It was created to protect, lives and properties, prevent crimes, arrest offenders, Investigate Criminal cases and carry out any other directives assign by the management, and to advice the management on security matters that affects the institution. The department is to deliver excellent services to the UMTH.

Vision: The department was established to make the UMTH crime free by providing adequate security services and excellent services to the hospital.
Mission: To see that all staff, patients and patients relations are protected and given good and effective services to the highest possible standard and visitors to feel free of criminal intimidation.

The security department under the present management, comprises of the following:

• Internal security - 30
• Crown continental guards - 351
• Sahel security guards - 116
• Admin staffs - 17

The department also has 4 functional outstations that is

• MADAGALI COMPREHENSIVE
• BANKI COMPREHENSIVE
• POTISKUM outreach and
• Urban Health Centre Federal Secretariat Maiduguri

Also under the department we have Call duty unit and Romeo control room. All these outstation have responsibilities of rendering security services and implementing programmes of development to the UMTH, because security department have a lot of roll in the day to day activities of the Hospital, they are the Police of the Hospital.

Services rendered in the Hospital are too many to enumerate, but to mention few are as follows:

• Protection of properties.
• Provide physical services like access to locations.
• Design and implement a system of crowd control, personnel identification, control of visitor's movement and staff to restricted or closed areas.
• Provision of operatives for the apprehension, detection and prevention of any illegal act.
• Operate system of supervising patrols, surveillance of personnel, and target.
• Assist in fire fighting or accidents and reporting to appropriate quarters.
• Strict observance of facilities regulation and orders by the security operatives as require by the law.
• The department investigate criminal cases and report to the management for further instructions.
• The department check exam malpractices.
• The department carryout any duties assign by the UMTH Management.

The department work 24 Hours all round the Hospital in order give maximum security coverage to all installations, facilities and to make sure criminals did not infiltrate the entire Hospital.
